In brief: Simon Hector, Silver Medallist JWOC 2015 Long Distance (SWE)

Simon Hector born on 12 July 1997, lives in Huddinge (Stockholm) and Sandviken (at the orienteering high school until June) and is a club member of Snättringe SK. He won three JWOC medals so far (silver long and bronze relay 2015, gold relay 2014) and 14 Swedish Junior/Youth Championship gold medals.

Are you happy with your winter training?
End of December I developed once again problems with my right knee and I lost a few weeks of running training in January. However, I believe that I have found – with the support of a physical therapist – the reason for the knee problems. Now I‘m strengthening my body and I believe I can come back stronger than before!

What would you prefer: winning a gold medal once or the bronze medal twice at JWOC 2016?
A gold medal would be a real highlight!

What does Simone Niggli, the Director of the Organising committee, mean to you personally?
Simone is one of the greatest orienteers for many years. I admire those who had long international careers and can still perform at a very high level with excellent results.

In five years I’m …
… hopefully will be competing on a high orienteering level and running in nice areas (such as the Engadine valley).

What I also would like to mention….
I am looking forward to JWOC 2016 in beautiful mountain terrain with tough and challenging courses which will require strong legs and great technical orienteering skills!
